In order to obtain the Master’s Degree in Clinical Research Management, it was decided to carry out a Curricular Internship, with the elaboration of the respective Internship Report. Among the options presented, the area of Coordination of Clinical Research was chosen because it was considered the most challenging, enriching and relevant for the future professional path. The Internship described in this report was conducted at Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental, E.P.E., under its cooperation protocol with NOVA Clinical Research Unit, during the months of September 2021 through March 2022. The duration of the Internship was 627 hours. The main goal of writing this Report is to present and describe the activities carried out during the Curricular Internship, demonstrating the experience and the various skills acquired during this period. Additionally, there was also the opportunity to explore a topic of interest to the chosen area, through the elaboration of a Bibliographic Research. The theme explored was “Recruitment of Participants in Clinical Trials - Challenges and Opportunities”, since one of the problems generally stressed by the Sponsors of clinical studies was the difficulty in achieving the recruitment objectives in the Research Centers. The completion of a Curricular Internship proved to be an asset, not only for complementing the knowledge acquired in the academic component of the Master, but also for enhancing the acquisition of know-how in several essential tasks for a successful professional career in Clinical Research

De modo a concluir o Mestrado em Gestão da Investigação Clínica, optou se pela realização de um Estágio Curricular, com elaboração do respetivo Relatório de Estágio. De entre as opções apresentadas, escolheu-se a área de Coordenação dos Estudos Clínicos por se considerar a mais desafiante, enriquecedora e relevante para o percurso profissional futuro. O Estágio descrito no presente relatório foi conduzido no Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental, E.P.E., ao abrigo do seu protocolo de cooperação com a NOVA Clinical Research Unit, entre os meses de setembro de 2021 e março de 2022. No total, perfizeram-se 627 horas de Estágio. A escrita do presente Relatório tem como principal objetivo a apresentação e descrição das atividades realizadas ao longo do Estágio Curricular, demonstrando a experiência e as diversas competências adquiridas ao longo deste período. Adicionalmente, existiu ainda a oportunidade de explorar um tema de interesse para a área escolhida, através da elaboração de uma Pesquisa Bibliográfica. Este tema, “Recrutamento de Participantes em Ensaios Clínicos – Desafios e Oportunidades”, reflete uma das problemáticas identificadas pelos Promotores dos Estudos Clínicos: a dificuldade generalizada que os Centros de Investigação têm em atingir os objetivos de recrutamento. A realização do Estágio Curricular provou ser uma mais-valia, não só por complementar os conhecimentos adquiridos na componente letiva do Mestrado, mas também por potenciar a aquisição de know-how em diversas tarefas fulcrais para um percurso profissional bem-sucedido nesta vertente da Investigação Clínica
